Dogs are welcome ON LEASH in Parksville’s City Parks. We hope you will enjoy our parks and green spaces responsibly – please be courteous, keep your dog leashed and under control, pick up after them and muzzle them if necessary.
During March and April, which is Brant geese migration season, dogs are not allowed on the beach even when on leash. This is due to the fact that Brant geese feed and rest at the tide-line and thus are especially vulnerable to disturbance by dogs.
In the front-country Provincial Parks (i.e. vehicle accessible camping) such as Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park, Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park and Englishman River Falls Provincial Park, pets must be on leash at all times and are not allowed in the day-use/beach areas or park buildings. Pets are allowed on the beach adjacent to the Rathtrevor Beach campground between May 1st and February 14th, however they must be on leash.
Dogs are permitted in Regional District of Nanaimo Parks https://rdn.bc.ca/parks-services if kept under control by their owners. Dogs must be leashed at Moorecroft, Horne Lake and Descanso Bay Regional Park. Dogs are not permitted in the Little Qualicum River Estuary Regional Conservation Area.
