Joseph Ghetler, President
Joseph is a seasoned sales and marketing leader with a wealth of technical expertise, creativity, and business acumen. He is highly skilled in building and coaching high-performing sales leaders, establishing long-lasting client relationships, and developing tailored approaches that create tangible value. Joseph's capabilities encompass market assessment, strategic planning, sales enablement, revenue management, and the implementation of effective sales strategies and tactics. He is dedicated to delivering measurable results and committed to driving the success and growth of any organization he works with. -
Karim Mohammadi, President Elect
Karim is Regional General Manager at Evergreen Hospitality Group which includes several local properties. Karim is also on the Board of Directors at Parksville Qualicum Beach Tourism Association. -
Vicki deHaan, Vice President
Vicki has worked at Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort and Conference Centre for over 15 years in a variety of positions, and has been Revenue Manager since 2018. -
Rob Ferguson, Treasurer
Rob Ferguson is a longtime member of the Oceanside community, having called the area home for over 40 years. Rob is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a Bachelor of Tourism Management, Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education, Master of Arts in Tourism and Urban Culture, and a PhD. He is particularly active within the growing conversation around the contribution of Indigenous tourism to cultural resilience and social reconciliation among select coastal communities in British Columbia and participates in various community advisory boards. Since 2010, he has been employed by Vancouver Island University (VIU) and currently serves as the Interim Associate Dean within the Faculty of Management. Rob is deeply committed to enhancing community wellbeing through locally-led economic development initiatives. As a representative of VIU, a local resident, a parent of two high school-age children, and someone with a strong attachment to his home community, he brings a wealth of experience and a high level of dedication to this aim. -
Tina Rasmussen, Secretary
Tina has extensive executive operations and facilities management experience and has worked across a variety of industries, including tech companies, provincial crown corporations, and most recently, non-profits, both in the lower mainland and here in Parksville-Qualicum Beach. Tina brings over thirty years of experience and her skillset includes coordination of complex scheduling, bookkeeping, facility management, complex relocations, local and international event management, as well as strategic and budget planning. Tina has been the Executive Coordinator of Sources Community Resource Center since 2011, providing supports to the CEO, as well as to teams in Oceanside and other locations across the province. Tina has a passion for hospice, and a strong appreciation for the care and support hospice provides to the families of Oceanside. -
Meghan Walker, Past President
Meghan Walker has been a REALTOR® since 2014. Real estate is one of Meghan’s passions, as is building relationships and it shines through every interaction with her clients. It was the opportunity to do something she loved while establishing long-lasting relationships that drew her from her previous career in hospitality and tourism management. Her commitment to clients and love for the area have made her one of the top producing agents in the business. During her term as a Chamber Director Meghan’s Real Estate knowledge and her Tourism experience were valuable resources for the Events and Policy Committee. -
Jason Hall, Director
Jason immigrated to Canada from the UK in 1970. After graduating, Jason spent a number of years living and working in Kenya and South Africa. Returning to North America, Jason was headhunted by Estee Lauder, where he joined the ranks of Aveda. Securing the Director of Education role, coordinating educational practices for the Aveda network, this also provided the opportunity to complete his degree in business. Shortly after relocation to California, Jason was approached by a “start up” luxury beauty brand, leading their educational, marketing, product development, packaging and sales divisions. Since relocating back to Canada, Jason has been focused on raising his family, building his own business and supporting local industry. Most recently, Jason has developed and launched his own brand that offers the high standard of the professional beauty industry, yet respecting an accessible price point for the consumers. Jason has also been offered a part time educational position with an Italian beauty company, allowing him to return to his roots, gaining outside stimulation and knowledge to bring back into the community. -
Steven Hughes, Director
Steven's 30 + years in sales, training, marketing and real estate investment led him to launch Hughes Home Inspection Ltd. in 2017. As a Certified Professional Inspector he provides complete pre- and post- purchase home inspections, home maintenance inspections and is a certified mold & asbestos Inspector servicing the Island from Duncan to Campbell River, and the Gulf Islands. Steven has been in PQB for the last 4 1/2 years, and enjoys collecting and driving classic cars and fishing the west coast. -
Peter Jory, Director
Peter Jory has recently joined SD69 as Superintendent of Schools from School District 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap), and has previously worked in the Cowichan Valley, Sea to Sky, Prince Rupert and Fraser-Cascade, as a principal, vice principal, senior staff member and superintendent. Peter grew up on the Island and was a principal in Duncan for five years. He and his spouse have significant history there. -
Avrillee Kenny, Director
Avrillee Kenny moved to Parksville in 2017 from Vancouver. Avrillee holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology from SFU, Diploma in Accounting from UBC and completed her Mortgage Broker Course in 2021. Currently, Avrillee is a Licensed Mortgage Broker with Invis – Integral Max Mortgages and has over 15 years experience in finance, accounting and law. She enjoys helping people with the financial aspect of real estate transactions whether it is with a purchase, refinance or reverse mortgages. In her down time she enjoys volunteering in the Oceanside Community, gardening, cooking and spending time with her daughter, husband and her fur baby. -
Cassie Long, Director
Cassie Long moved to Parksville in 2015 from Whistler. Her family chose Parksville because it provided them with the right job opportunities, and they were ready for beach life after having been on the mountain for so long. Cassie works with Bayview Strata Services and has experience with communications, property management, hospitality management, marketing, social media and sales. She is passionate about real estate and sustainable development. She enjoys music, festivals, travel, family time, and community involvement. She’s always interested in connecting with others and exchanging ideas!

Spencer Sigouin, Director
Spencer Sigouin has worked in the plumbing industry for over 15 years, gaining experience in plumbing, leadership, strategic management, and customer service. Being a seasoned operations manager, he is passionate about advancing in community engagement and connecting with local businesses. In addition to working with Roto-Rooter Plumbers, he is also involved in working with youth for Cadets Canada. Outside of the office, Spencer enjoys sailing, golfing, and skiing.
The Board of Directors is elected annually and determine policies and programs. The staff employed by the board is responsible for organizing and executing the Chamber of Commerce's programs and promoting policies. The committees consisting of members of the Chamber of Commerce are committed to achieving the goals within the strategic plan. As the #1 business association in the community, we are the voice of business through our collective association.
